Transportation Referral and Partnership Fund

Sou'West Nova Transit is pleased to have been granted funds through the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors Age-Friendly Communities grant program to support our community partners and network in Shelburne County on a new level: by offsetting travel costs for initiatives and referrals that demonstrate building connections with and meeting immediate, urgent needs of seniors who are isolated and burdened by their transportation barriers. Requests are welcome from community centres, churches, service providers, and any organized group serving or involving older adults in Shelburne County!

If you would like to receive a quote for services prior to completing this application (understanding that non-profits and charities are eligible to receive $300 per round of funding to cover up to 100% of their travel costs for approved projects), please email info@souwestnovatransit.ca!

(NOTE: For representatives of organizations trying to meet the immediate, urgent need of a senior (not including emergency medical travel, which should be referred to an ambulance): Call (902-637-2572) or email (info@souwestnovatransit.ca) by noon the business day before the trip – no application necessary!)

WHO SHOULD APPLY:

  • Has your Shelburne County organization identified a senior who would be a great asset through leadership, board membership, or volunteering but is limited in their ability to be involved due to lack of reliable transportation? Apply to our program to receive travel vouchers that this individual can use in those pursuits!
  • Is your Shelburne County organization launching a new program, club or service that benefits new and/or isolated seniors? Apply to our program so you can advertise for free or discounted transportation to help recruit new participants!
